REVISED FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS DUE TO WEATHER

NORTH BROOKFIELD – Joseph G. Plante, 56, of Bigelow Street, North Brookfield, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 in Bolton Manor Nursing Home, Marlborough, after an illness.
He is survived by two brothers, Thomas E. Plante of North Brookfield and Daniel J. Plante of Worcester; a sister, Dorothy E. Plante of Auburn; a sister-in-law, Gail M. Plante of North Brookfield; two nieces, Carey and Alicia; and his former wife, Sharon Plante of West Chicago, Illinois. He was born in Worcester the son of Gerard E. and Mary (Sheehan) Plante and graduated from South High School in Worcester.
Joseph was a 2nd Class Petty Officer in the Navy and a veteran of Vietnam, and was an original crew member aboard the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Sawyer Mathieu-Kearns, American Legion Post 41 in North Brookfield. For many years he volunteered in a hospital in Dallas, Texas.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 14th in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. The funeral for Joseph will be held on Monday, December 15th, from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 258 Main Street, Rutland. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery, 251 Richards Avenue, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts, 30 Lyman Street, Suite 10, Westborough, MA 01581.
