Gordon ''Pete'' Peterson

RUTLAND – Gordon “Pete” Peterson, 57 of 40 Birchwood Road, was stricken ill and died on Sunday, July 2, 2006 in UMass Memorial – University Campus, Worcester.
Pete has left his soul mate and beloved wife of 35 years, Thelma J. (Johnson) Peterson, to begin his new journey. They shared many loves … quiet times after work in the gardens with their cats, pleasant walks, exciting rides in their corvette and all the pleasures and closeness that living in a small town has given them. Besides his wife, he leaves his sister, Susan Brigham and her husband Thomas of Dennis; his mother-in-law, Dorothy (Baker) Johnson of Douglas, father-in-law, Leonard Johnson, Sr. of Vermont; sister-in-law, Carol Racicot and her husband Earl of Douglas and brother-in-law, Leonard Johnson, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Douglas; many nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Donald and Pauline (Forsberg) Peterson and lived in New Braintree before moving to Rutland eight years ago. He was a graduate of Algonquin High School in Northborough and Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester. He was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War serving from 1970-74.
Pete was a Technical Account Manager for IDX-GE Heathcare in Burlington, Vermont. Previously he worked for Sprague Semiconductor and Falcon Healthcare, both in Worcester. He was an avid corvette enthusiast and was a long standing member of the National Corvette Restorers Society. He was a collector of Disabled American Veterans tags and military memorabilia and authored a book, Peterson’s Guide to Keychain License Plates. He enjoyed gardening.
The funeral service for Pete will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 7, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery, 142 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 6, in the funeral home. The family suggests that donations be made to the New England Center for Children, 33 Turnpike Road, Southboro, MA 01772.
