HOLDEN - Gordon B. Dodge, 91, “Bud” as he was affectionately known to family and friends, died peacefully at the Holden Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Holden, following a brief period of declining health. He was born and raised in Worcester, a son of the late Gordon C. and Janet (Ballard) Dodge, and has lived in Holden for almost 60 years. He attended Commerce High School. Bud was a proud Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. While in the service, Bud attended aircraft mechanics school in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he meet his true love, Nargie O. Davison. Following several months of courtship, they were married on October 30, 1948, then returning to the Worcester area where Bud began a 40 year career in the envelope manufacturing industry, first with the U.S. Envelope Company and then Worcester Envelope Company, where he worked as a machine adjuster for 20 years before retiring.

He and Nargie’s sense of adventure led them to travel near and far. He was also an avid Ham Radio operator, with the call sign “K1CTU”. Bud enjoyed working in his yard, as long as it didn’t involve flowers, and watching and feeding his neighborhood feathered friends on a daily basis.

Dodge of Holden; his five grandchildren, Sara Aragon and her husband, Eric of Avon, CO, Emily Centa and her husband, Matthew of Highland Ranch, CO, Matthew Bomar of and his wife, Brenna of Tempe, AZ, Ashley Dodge of Jamica Plain and Bart Dodge. He was predeceased by his younger sibling, Philip W. Dodge, who was killed over Nassau, NY in July of 1949 while test flying an early version of an Air Force jet, and his sister, Patricia Brien.
