RUTLAND, MA/PATCHOGUE, NY – Julio Gomez, 89, of Rolling Ridge Road, Rutland, formerly of Patchogue, NY, died peacefully on Monday, May 3, 2010 in UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus, Worcester, after an illness.
He leaves two sons, John Gomez and his wife Mary Garabedian-Gomez of Rutland and Jose Louis Ortiz of Philadelphia; and a daughter, Lillian Ortiz of Worcester. He is predeceased by his son Julio Gomez, Jr. who died in 1997.
Mr. Gomez was born in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico and raised in Patchogue, NY and was the owner and operator of a local green house where he worked for over 55 years. He moved to Rutland, MA in 2009 to be close to his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A private graveside service for Julio will be held in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Patchogue, New York. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is assisting the family with arrangements.
