RUTLAND-Godfrey J. “Jeff” Homewood, a longtime Rutland resident, died peacefully at the home enjoyed for 62 years on Turkey Hill Pond on June 14, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was 88.
Jeff was born in Jamaica, The West Indies. His father, Harry and his mother, Nellie (Leek) Homewood were there stationed with the British forces. Jeff was raised in Upminster, England, where he left home at age 10 to attend boarding school. At the age of 17, Jeff joined the British Royal Navy during World War II, and was a proud veteran of that war. Jeff came to the US as a young man, and became an engineer. He worked for more than 35 years for Morgan Construction in Worcester, retiring in 1987. Following the death of his first wife, Vera (Merry) Homewood in 1977, Jeff met his second wife, Christine A. “Tina” (Rasku) while at work. Together, they enjoyed a busy 30 years of marriage, traveling around the world with his job as well as enjoying his retirement fishing in fresh and salt water and traveling throughout the US in their motor home, including yearly trips to Cape Cod, South Carolina and Florida. He also enjoyed a good round of golf.
Besides his beloved wife, Tina, Jeff leaves his two children, Graham Homewood of Princeton, and his companion, Jackie Aubuchon, and Cheryl M. Rowe and her husband, Michael of Pleasant Shade, TN; his three step children, Susan C. Couture and her companion, Thomas Incutto of Worcester, Michael DuMouchel and his wife, Leah of Nashua, NH, and Sandra Miller and her husband, Richard of Leicester; his brother, Leonard Homewood, and his sister, Pamela Grant and her husband, Ken, all of England; his brother-in-law, Charles Rasku and his wife Christine; his grandchildren, Steven and Christopher Couture, Shaina DuMouchel, and Casie-Lee Miller; and his good friend, Ron Player of South Carolina.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jeff’s family on Wednesday, June 18 from 9-11 a.m. in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A service celebrating his life will follow at 11 a.m. Burial in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton will be private.
