HUBBARDSTON/CAMBRIDGE – Gladys L. (Weymouth) Smith, 86, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, in Springbrook Nursing Care Center, Westbrook, Maine.
She leaves two daughters, Louise G. Swenson of Brookfield and Elizabeth M. Forss of Limington, Maine; a sister, Eileen W. Lyons of Medford; 5 grandchildren, Thomas and David Swenson and James, Michael and William Forss; and 11 great-grandchildren. A granddaughter, Sally Swenson, died in 1995. She is also predeceased by four brothers, Daniel, Lawrence, Leroy and George Weymouth, and a sister, Elizabeth Ray. She was born in Cambridge, daughter of Daniel M. and Mary J. (Collins) Weymouth, and lived in Cambridge for 50 years prior to living in Holden and Hubbardston.
Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Cambridge Latin High and worked as a Dietary Aide at Rutland Heights Hospital for several years. Previously, she was a long time manager of the former Villa Capri in Cambridge. She was a collector of Native American Indian memorabilia.
The funeral Mass for Mrs. Smith will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, in St. Patrick’s Church, 290 Main Street, Rutland. Burial will be in Cambridge Cemetery, 76 Coolidge Avenue, Cambridge. Calling hours are from 3 to 5 p.m. on Monday, April 17, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
