Gladys F. (Follansbee) Howard Megarry

SHREWSBURY – Gladys (Follansbee) Howard Megarry, 95, of 30 Julio Drive and a longtime resident of Holden, died Saturday, May 15, 2004, at home following an illness.

Her first husband Atty. Frank Howard died in 1962. She leaves her husband of nine years, William H. Megarry; a stepdaughter, Eunice M. Cronk of Holden; four cousins, Carl and Catherine Burnap of Rye, New Hampshire, Lillian Austin of Peabody and Diane Young of Lynnfield; three step-nieces, C. Joyce Megarry of Oakham, Jean Scott of Worcester and Susan Reed of Fredericksburg, Virginia. She was born in Manchester, New Hampshire, daughter of Harry and Bertha (Zimmerman) Follansbee. She was a graduate of Keene Normal School and Attended Clark University.

Mrs. Megarry taught at the Bartlett School in the Pinardville section of Goffstown, New Hampshire and also worked in Winchester and the Holden School systems. She was a lifelong Bridge Player and traveled around the world to compete in tournaments. She was a member of the Chaffin’s Congregational Church and the Women’s Club where she served as 2nd President. She was also a member of the Holden Garden Club.

Mrs. Megarry’s Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery, 1290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. There are no calling hours.
