HOLDEN – Virginia E. (Paquette) Johnson, 88, of Bailey Road, died peacefully at home on Sunday, November 21, 2010.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Harold G. Johnson; two daughters, Gail D. Mannila of Newton and Melanie D. Johnson of Holden; a son, Barry A. Johnson and his wife, Celeste of Deltona, FL; four grandchildren, Christopher Mannila of Charlton, Heather Mannila of Belmont, Jennifer Mannila of Charlestown and Seth Johnson of Deltona; seven great grandchildren; a great-great grandson; a sister, Marie Bengston of Holden; and nephews and nieces. A brother, Russell Paquette and a sister, Dolores Wisner, predeceased her.
Virginia was born on January 1, 1922 in Worcester, a daughter of Marshall and Stasia (Dusak) Paquette, and was raised in Holden. She was a graduate of Holden High School and attended classes at Quinsigamond Community College, where she was the book store manager for many years. An avid reader, she was a member of the Friends of the Gale Free Library and belonged to the library’s Great Books Club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Holden where she taught Sunday School for a number of years. “Ginny” was a talented seamstress and enjoyed quilting and knitting as well as working in her gardens and caring for her many pets.
A Service of Remembrance will be held for family and friends at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 27th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
