Biography


HOLDEN, MA / DOVER - Germaine J. (Courteau) Sesin, 100, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 28, 2016 at the Holden Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Dover, a daughter of the late George and Emma (Grenier) Courteau and was a lifelong resident until relocating to Jefferson and Holden, MA three years ago. Germaine graduated from Dover High School in 1933. As a young woman, Germaine worked for a local ice cream bar, creating delicious treats for the customers. Those skillful hands and her dedication to those around her continued on in her married life, especially as a loving and devoted mother and grandmother as her family grew.  She spent many years as a member of the League of the Blind in Concord, and enjoyed playing bridge watching sports and reading a good book. Along with her husband, Richard Germaine was a longtime volunteer at Saint Joseph’s Parish. She grew up attending the former St. Charles Church in Dover and later spent many years a faithful member of Saint Mary’s Parish.

In death, Germaine joins her husband, Richard who died in 1987, as well as her four brothers and her sister. She will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her three sons, Paul Sesin and his wife, Judy of Dover, Richard Sesin and his wife, Linda of Etters, PA and David Sesin and his wife, Diane of California; her daughter, Julie Parkinson and her husband, Richard of Jefferson, with whom Germaine has lived since moving to Massachusetts; her sister, Cecile Clauson of Maine; her 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church, 25 Third Street, Dover. Burial will follow in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Saint Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105. Arrangements are under the care of the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, MA.
