Geraldine Rose (Canning) Daringer

November 30, 1937 — June 10, 2014

Geraldine Rose (Canning) Daringer, 76, of Sterling and formerly of West Virginia and New Jersey, died peacefully on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Keystone at Leominster.



Geraldine was married to Richard L. Daringer, her husband of 60 years. She was born in Trenton, NJ, and was the daughter of the late Harry and Laura (Griffith) Canning.



She leaves behind her beloved and devoted husband, Richard, and their eight children: Margaret Jane Kinnunen of Sterling, Dolly K. Miller and her husband, Curtis of Sterling, James Allen Daringer and his wife, Tracy of Cumru Township, PA, P. Jacob Daringer of Bordentown, NJ, Elsie Daringer and her spouse, Denise Gaug of Cathedral City, CA, Lois L. Kochis and her husband, Robert, of Skillman, NJ, Louise L. Stoop and her husband, Timothy, of Yardville, NJ, and Mary T. Whitehead and her husband, John, of Lawrenceville, NJ; and, their 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Harry J. Canning and her sister, Margaret (Canning) Battista.



She lived in the Hamilton Township, New Jersey area for approximately 30 years before retiring to West Virginia 18 years ago. Geraldine and Richard recently moved to Sterling due to a long courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease and to be with family. A devoted wife and mother, Geraldine loved her children and grandchildren, and being involved in their lives. She volunteered for the former Yardville First Aid Squad and proudly served as its president for several years. She was a member of the Shilo Church in West Virginia. She loved to collect and give angels to her friends and family members.



Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Geraldine’s family on Sunday, June 15 from 3-5 p.m. in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. A service celebrating her life will be held on Monday, June 16 at 10 a.m. in Hope Chapel, 35 Chocksett Road, Sterling. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Cemetery, Winchendon.
