Gerald 'Jerry' F. Campbell

HOLDEN – Gerald “Jerry” F. Campbell, 82, passed away early Sunday morning, June 3, 2018 at Rose Monahan Hospice in Worcester. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Frederick W. and Nellie (Crandall) Campbell and had lived in Holden for over 54 years.Jerry graduated from Houghton College in Houghton, New York in 1958 and attended graduate school at Boston University. He was a dedicated music teacher for 34 years in the Worcester Public School system, with concentration on string instruments, retiring in 2000. Besides conducting the Worcester Youth Orchestra, he also taught one year of organ for Barrington College of Rhode Island and gave stringed instrument lessons at home.Jerry was an organist and choir director for Holden Chapel and other area churches at various times. He was a member of the American Guild of Organists and arranged and composed choral, piano and organ music. Jerry was active in church ministries and was an avid gardener.He will be lovingly missed by his wife, Linda M. (Fleetwood) Campbell; two sons, Brian G. Campbell and his wife, Martha of Holden and Gregory W. Campbell of Frederick, Maryland; two daughters, Virginia M. Campbell of Worcester and Julie F. Swanson and her husband, Eric of Van, Texas; his sister, E. Joyce Pohousky of Naples, Florida; and six grandchildren, Lucas, Allison, Elizabeth, Richard, Robert and Timothy.Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 10 at 3 p.m. at Holden Chapel, 279 Reservoir Street, Holden. Burial is scheduled 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 11th at Grove Cemetery, Main Street Holden.
