HOLDEN – Georgette T. (Carreau) Menard, 81, of 68 Reservoir Street, Holden, formerly of Colony Homes in Worcester, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006 in Oakdale Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center after an illness.
Her husband of 52 years, Victor A. Menard, died in 1998. She leaves her son, Victor A. Menard of Great Mills, Maryland; three daughters, Jeanne R. Zaleski of N. Oxford, Elaine C. Fornari of Worcester and Sandra A. Menard of W. Boylston; two sisters, Dorothy Kaufmann of Johnstone, Rhode Island, and Antoinette Beaudry of Charlestown, New Hampshire; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was born in Claremont, New Hampshire, daughter of Lorenzo A. and Yvonne (Maheux) Carreau, and lived in West Boylston and Worcester.
Mrs. Menard graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Claremont and for many years was a bookkeeper for Dr. Carl Marsh in Worcester. She was a member of St. George’s Church and Sultana of the International Order of Alhambra Alcave Caravan 73. She was a recipient of the Emerald Award from the Emerald Club for her volunteer work at the Mercy Centre in Worcester.
The funeral for Mrs. Menard will be held on Saturday, March 11, from the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden, with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. George’s Church, 38 Brattle Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue (Rte. 56), Paxton. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 10, in the funeral home.
