HOLDEN, MA - George E. “Skip” Drawbridge, age 58, of Groveport, Ohio died Wednesday July 21, 2004 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital.
Born October 4, 1945 in Worcester, MA, he was a graduate of Wachusett Regional High School where he participated in FFA, Cross Country and 4H programs. Enlisting in the U.S. Navy in January of 1963, he finished U.S. Seabees Great Lakes Naval Training the following July. He served in Vietnam where he was cited for heroism and helped build a ballpark in Japan, which is named for him. He was a volunteer firefighter in Holden, MA for a number of years. He drove a tractor trailer for 31 years; the last 15 years for UPS. He had a great passion for gardening, especially after retiring.
Survived by his wife Lynn; children Timothy, Christopher & Gerald Drawbridge all of Stafford Springs, CT, Nathan, Bethany & Brianna Drawbridge all of Groveport; six grandchildren; father George N. Drawbridge of Worcester, MA; brother Rob Drawbridge of Dallas, TX; sister Kathleen Farber of Worcester, MA; nieces and nephews. Skip was preceded in death by his mother Emily (Sjostrom) Drawbridge.
The funeral service for Mr. Drawbridge will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27, 2004 in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Burial will follow in Grove Cemetery. Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2004 in the funeral home.
