HOLDEN - George L. LaCroix passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 23, 2023, surrounded by family.
He leaves his wife, Jane Ellen LaCroix of 58 years; two sons, Brian LaCroix and his wife, Gail, Garrett LaCroix and his wife, Jennifer; six grandchildren, Natalie Getty, Kyle Getty, Caroline Getty, Sam LaCroix, Preston LaCroix and Madison LaCroix. He was predeceased by his daughter, Cathleen Getty.
George grew up in Worcester where he graduated from Boys Trade with a trade as an Electrician. After high school, he honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for 4 ½ years. He moved to Holden where he would happily raise his family. George worked for many years at Simplex Time Recorder in Gardner, MA.
He was also a volunteer Holden firefighter for 12 years and after retirement, he volunteered in the Holden CERTS team. George belonged to St. Mary’s Parish in Jefferson, where he was a member of the Knight of Columbus, donating his time cooking for various events.
George was also a hobbyist ranging from photography, wood carving and fishing. His main passion was his 1941 Hudson Commodore which led him to numerous car clubs and traveling to car shows with friends and family. George loved being with his family as much as he could. He was a devoted husband, father, and Papa. Whether he was fixing or building something, George was always willing to lend a helping hand for his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with George’s family from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 28th, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, December 29th, at St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson, followed by burial at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. After the burial, there will be a gathering at Holden Hills Country Club.
