WORCESTER - George Kirusis, 96, of Worcester passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. He was born in Klishari, Albania in 1926, the son of Dimitri and Eugenia Kirusis. George was predeceased by his brother, Athanasios and sister, Katerina.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 60 years, Theodora (Economou) Kirusis, a son, Christos Kirusis of West Boylston; a daughter, Eugenia Christakos and her husband, Elias, of Norwalk, CT; three grandchildren, Peter, Marina, and Iliana.
George lived in Istanbul, Turkey until 1957, when he moved to Worcester and worked for Table Talk Pies for many years. He later opened Maynard Pizza House in Maynard, MA where he worked for 35 years. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester, MA and was known to all as a kind and gentle man. He loved to share stories of his many travels that he enjoyed with his wife. He always had Greek music playing and was a great Greek dancer. He loved all sports, especially soccer and the Patriots.
Relatives and friends are invited to honor George and pay their respects from 10:30 - 11:30 am on Wednesday, November 9th at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 11:30am. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
