WORCESTER, MA – George J. Bauer, 91, of 70 Briarwood Circle, died Tuesday, February 24, 2004, in the Knollwood Nursing Center, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 67 years, Gertrude G. (Wirths) Bauer; two daughters, Nancy V. Thomson and her husband Neil C. Thomson of West Boylston, and Georgine Kilborn and her husband The Rev. Malcolm Kilborn of Houston, TX; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. He was born in Worcester, the son of Fritz and Marie (Rieker) Bauer.
George graduated from Commerce High, Wentworth Institute in Boston, and Parks Air College in St. Louis, MO. He was once co-owner of George Boepple Company. Later he owned and operated Acremat, Inc. Prior to his retirement he was a tool and die maker for Parker Metal. George was a member of the Greendale Retired Men’s Club and Chorus, serving as treasurer. He was active in the Boy’s Scouts for many years and served as scoutmaster Troop #3. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of West Boylston and a former member of the First Congregational Church of Worcester, where he served on the Board of Trustees. He also enjoyed golfing, woodcarving and working with stained glass.
A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 1, 2004 in the First Congregational Church of West Boylston, 26 Central Street. There are no calling hours.
