George R. Graves

HOLDEN - George R. Graves, 81, of Holden, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester after a short illness.

George was born on February 26th, 1943, to Harold and Olive Graves in Worcester. After Graduating from Shrewsbury High School in 1961 he went on to a successful 45-year career at Norton/Saint Gobain in Worcester. For nearly two decades, George owned a home on thirteen acres in Hubbardston where he spent many happy hours with his family tending to the land and a multitude of farm and domestic animals. In his later years, he was rarely seen without a cat or dog at his side.

George was predeceased by his parents, Harold & Olive, his brother Donald Graves of New Mexico, his sister Margaret Wood of Schenectady, NY, and his brother Russell Graves of Holden. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Elaine (Robertson), daughter Carol Proietti and her husband Thomas Proietti, son Greg Graves and his wife Jody Callahan, brother Bruce Graves, sister-in-law Elizabeth Graves, and two grandchildren Andrew Proietti and Emily Proietti.

A private family service will be held at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.
