George Bankowski

WORCESTER - George J. Bankowski, 61, of Watson Avenue, died Friday, December 15, 2006 in Saint Vincent Hospital. He was born in Poland, son of Tekla Bankowski, and immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1950’s. He was a long time baker having worked for Millbury Street Bakery, Widoff’s Bakery and Sam’s Bakery all on Water Street and UMass Medical School in Worcester. For the last four years, he was a baker at The Bagel Inn in Holden. Though George did not have any living relatives, he will be missed by his close friends, Joan and John Laracy, and the employees of The Bagel Inn.

A private service was held on February 7th in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial was in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester, on February 9th.
