Biography
WORCESTER – Dr. Gene Appel, 76, of Lajolla, CA, died on Saturday, March 7th, in his residence.
He leaves his wife of 45 years, Barbara (Krintzman) Appel; a son, Brian Appel of Los Angeles; two daughters, Karen, wife of Jason Harris of New York City, and Deborah Appel of Los Angeles; and two grandsons, Cole and Jett Harris.
He was born in Cleveland and had lived in Lajolla for almost 40 years. He was a general surgeon and trauma surgeon in San Diego for over 30 years.
He graduated Cornell University with a Masters degree in mechanical engineering and from Harvard Medical School, serving his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital.
GRAVESIDE FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 12:00 NOON ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 11TH IN B’NAI BRITH CEMETERY, ON ST. JOHN’S ROAD, WORCESTER UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN.
Memorial Observance will be announced at the time of the funeral service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
