Donald G. Charbonneau

December 11, 1935 — January 23, 2008

HOLDEN – Donald G. Charbonneau, 72, of Holden, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, January 23, 2008.

He leaves his wife of 25 years, Karen A. (Webster) Charbonneau; four sons, David G. Charbonneau and his wife Debra of Auburn, Eric J. Charbonneau and his wife Donna of Rutland, Kenneth M. Charbonneau and his wife Colleen of Paxton, and Kevin M. Charbonneau and his wife Louise of Los Angeles, CA; nine adoring grandchildren, Derek, Sarah, Deanna, Kyle, Erica, Emily, Monica, Nicolas and Elise Charbonneau; his mother-in-law, Avis M. (Meserve) Webster of Holden; and many loving nephews and nieces. He was born and raised in Worcester the son of George and Alice E. (Lemieux) Charbonneau and lived 27 years in Holden.

Don graduated from Holy Name High School in Worcester where he was an All City All Star in both baseball and basketball. He attended Worcester Junior College in Worcester and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. He worked 35 years for the New England Telephone Company in Worcester, retiring as a manager in 1990. After his retirement, Don enjoyed working at Professional Limousine Company in Millbury, and later worked at Edith’s Florist in Holden.

He was a member of the Auburn Lodge of Elks, Pioneers of America, and was an avid reader and New England sports fan. He enjoyed annual father, son and grandchildren fall trips to Fryeburg, Maine. Don summered many years in Ogunquit, Maine and wintered in West Palm Beach and most recently, Venice, Florida. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 3 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 27th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. The Auburn Lodge of Elks will conduct a service at 5 p.m. on Sunday. The funeral service for Don will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 28th, in the First Baptist Church of Holden, 1216 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made the Scholarship Fund of the Auburn Lodge of Elks, P.O. Box 306, Auburn, MA 01501-0306.
