Gayle A. (Atkins) Hogarth

PRINCETON - Gayle A. (Atkins) Hogarth, 62, of Redemption Rock Trail North, died on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in Hillcrest Nursing Home, Fitchburg, after an illness.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Elwood "Butch" Hogarth, Jr.; a son, Jason A. Hogarth of Princeton; a sister, Paula J. Cross and her husband Rick of Southwick; two brothers, Chester C. Atkins and his wife Anne of Holden and Dick Atkins and his wife Amy Parker of Jefferson; and several nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester the daughter of Chester C. Atkins, Jr. and Dorothy L. (Desroches) Atkins and had lived in Holden and Princeton for many years.

Gayle graduated from Wachusett Regional High School in 1966 and attended Worcester State College. She left college to become an AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer, where she met her husband Butch. She worked for JC Penney in Leominster for over 8 years in the cosmetics and jewelry department and previously, worked for FDIC and other local banks in Worcester County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Holden.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 8th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. The funeral service for Gayle will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 9th, in the First Baptist Church of Holden, 1216 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private in Grove Cemetery, Holden.
