Biography

WEST BOYLSTON - Gary L. Parker, 64, died with his loving family by his side at Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, Worcester.  He was born in Holden, the son of Stanley L. and Dorothy L. (Allen) Parker and graduated from West Boylston High School.

He is survived by his loving wife, Robin (Roberge) of West Boylston; his sons, Steven Parker and David Parker both of West Boylston; his daughter, Johanna Esterbrook and her husband, James of Ashland; stepson, Peter Prus and his wife, Nichole of North Grafton; stepdaughter, Jennifer Yap and her husband, Stephen of Worcester; his brothers, Robert A. Parker and his wife, Carolyn of Richmond, VA, and Kenneth C. Parker and his wife, Rose of West Boylston; his sister, Patricia A. Melendy and her husband, Normand of West Boylston; five granddaughters, Olivia, Carlee, Isla, Ana and Kacey; and his adoring and devoted companion "Jessie" the cat.  He was predeceased by his brother, Donald C. Parker.

Gary worked in Abrasives for the former Norton Co., now Saint Gobain, for 39 years, retiring in 2015.  Gary loved sports, especially the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots and had a love for all animals, especially birds and cats.  Gary's large stature and presence was matched by a big heart, generous spirit and humble nature.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend memorial calling hours from 1 to 2 p.m. followed by a memorial service on Saturday, March 10th at Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden St., Worcester, MA 01606.  To share a memory or offer an online condolence visit the "Guest Book" on this page.
