Gary S. Clark

December 11, 1959 — July 7, 2015

HOLDEN - Surrounded by his beloved wife and three wonderful daughters, Gary Steven Clark, 55, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, where he had been so lovingly cared for in his last days. His recent diagnosis a few short weeks ago has made his passing all the more difficult.

Born and raised in Worcester, Gary graduated from Doherty High School in 1978 and quickly joined the working world. As a teenager, Gary drove an ice cream truck then went on to a driving career with Clark Oil Co., then later for Yellow Cab’s special livery division. He also drove for McCarthy Bus Co. in West Brookfield. Whether it was pursuing his passion for Corvettes or Camaros or working on one of his daughters cars, Gary could often be seen with a wrench or screwdriver not far from his hard-working hands. From the time he was a young boy spending time in West Yarmouth with his grandfather, to gathering with his wife and children on the beaches around the Wellfleet area, Gary truly loved Cape Cod and all its treasures. Enjoying the seas’ harvest was part of that experience and Gary could often be found enjoying a lobster, some local clams or whatever seafood catch of the day. He always made sure there was time to support and enjoy the sports endeavors of his daughters, and was more than happy to spend those countless hours driving them to games and matches. His love of sports also flowed over to his endless support of the New England Patriots. Gary’s several canine family friends also brought a smile to his face.

He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife of 26 years, Bonnie Jean (O’Brien) Clark; his three cherished daughters, Kayla Nicole Clark of Oxford, Haley Kristen and Shawnie Leigh Clark, both at home in Holden; his grandson, Brayden Heipt, who had a special way of tugging at his grandfather’s heart; his parents, Philip and Dolores (Wisner) Clark of West Boylston; his sister, Cheryl Bloomer of New York; his two uncles, David Clark of Worcester and Robert Clark and his wife, Cathy of Boylston, and William Clark and his wife, Marjorie of West Boylston; as well as his cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Gary’s family on Saturday, July 11, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A funeral service celebrating and honoring Gary’s life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or donations in Gary’s memory may be made to the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602.
