OAKHAM - It is with sadness that I share the passing of my wife of 40 years, my best friend, companion, mother of our children, grandmother, and a friend to so many, Gail Truedson passed away at the age of 60 on Sunday, November 19, 2017. Gail was the daughter of the late Norman and Joan Youngstrom from Holden. Gail leaves her brother, Mark Youngstrom and his wife, Connie from Shrewsbury VT, and a sister and her family.
Gail lived and loved for our three children and four grandchildren. Gail leaves her oldest son, David Truedson his wife, Misty, grandson, Theodore, and granddaughter, Penelope all of New Braintree; Gail’s daughter, Holly her husband, Rick, and granddaughter, Addison all of Plymouth, VT; and Gail’s youngest son, Marc his wife, Andrea, and grandson Lincoln all of Plainfield, VT. Gail always had a love for animals, she leaves her dog, Winter and cat, Zellah.
Gail, after graduating high school at Wachusett Regional, worked at Paul Revere Insurance. We were married when Gail was 20, and started our family soon after. We lived in a small home in Barre Plains, until we bought some land in the woods, and built our home, soon to be called 331. Our home became a gathering place for birthdays, holidays, showers, and last minute special occasions, always filled with love and laughter, and welcomed by Gail’s warm smile. As our children became older, Gail started working outside of the home in the restaurant and home-health business, meeting various people along the way, many soon to become friends. Gail always kept such a graceful balance, between work, home, being a mother, wife and a friend. Gail soon found her life passion, in taking care of the elderly. She was a devoted caregiver, with compassion and kindness, allowing her clients to stay in their homes while being cared for, and enjoying their life.
Enjoying life, that is what Gail did. She was always up for an adventure and was flexible in the moment. She enjoyed walks in the woods, gardening in her beautiful yard, talking with friends and neighbors, and shopping, always with a smile and always engaging in conversation. As our children grew, Gail and I began to travel, sometimes with friends and other times just the two of us. We were so fortunate to adventure in so many beautiful places together, and always returning back to our home.
Gail loved her children, and was so proud of the lives they have created and the individuals they have become. Gail and Holly are the best of friends, shared so much between a mother and daughter, talked on the phone daily, most days 3 to 4 times a day. Gail’s two boys, so different but so much alike in the love they share. Gail always mentioned how fortunate we are that our children married such wonderful people, and that was a true testament to our love for each other and the love in raising our family, giving us the ultimate gift of grandchildren. Gail enjoyed spending time with each grandchild, just watching them laugh, play and explore, and enjoy being a family.
For those of you who got to know Gail, the love and joy she brought to this world, her selflessness, her pure love of live, know how special she truly was. I know she will forever be the love of my life. “Eternally, I will always be in love with you.”- The Beatles.
The family and I would like to thank the care given by Dr. Richard Moser and his staff from UMass Medical Center, Dr. David Reardon and his staff from Dana Farber, Dr. Steven Earls and the compassionate care from the Worcester VNA hospice staff. We are very thankful for the countless visits, calls, letters, meals, phone calls, and texts from so many people that mattered so much to Gail and our family. Thank you for your continued support during such a difficult time, we thank you and extend our love.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Gail's family from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday, November 24 at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. A private graveside service honoring her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 25 at Pine Grove Cemetery in Oakham. Gail would like donations to be made to Camp Putnam,141 Rutherford Road, New Braintree, MA, 01531; a camp for children to experience the world in the eyes of a child.
