Gail M. (Laprad) Gully

March 1, 1938 — August 3, 2018

HOLDEN – Gail M. (LaPrad) Gully, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 3, 2018 at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus.  Born and raised in Worcester, she was a daughter of Peter M. and Mary F. (Peltier) LaPrad.  Her beloved husband of 41 years, Richard F. Gully, passed away in 1999.Gail’s life was centered on her strong faith in God and unending devotion to her family.  She taught her children life lessons by being kind and generous to those in need.  It was not uncommon for her family to find a stranger at the dinner table or a holiday gathering.  Gail believed in treating people with dignity and always accepted people for who they were. Gail enjoyed a long career as Director of Catering for the Holiday Inn in Marlborough for more than 20 years.  After retiring from the Holiday Inn, she accepted a position as the head chef for St. Paul’s Cathedral in Worcester.  In her spare time was an avid reader, often reading several books at once.  She also enjoyed gardening and sharing her strong political opinions. She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her son, Michael F. Gully of Holden; her three daughters, Lisa G. Connor and her husband, David of West Boylston, Lynn A. Fiorentino and her husband, Mark of Wilton, CT and Kathleen M. Mahoney and her husband, Gary of Holden; a brother, Martin LaPrad of Warren; a sister, Marcia Dyer of Falmouth; five grandchildren, Ryan, John and Lindsay Connor and Brendan and Meghan Mahoney; a great granddaughter, Lylah Connor; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Gail’s family from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesday, August 8, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Thursday, August 9, at St. John’s Catholic Church, 44 Temple Street, Worcester.  Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Avenue, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. John’s Food for the Poor Program, 20 Temple Street, Worcester, MA 01604 in hopes to “Fill the fridge.”    To share a memory or leave a condolence, please visit our "Guest Book."
