Holden/Scottsdale, AZ - Gail Rita Anderson, 72, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 9, 2014 in Scottsdale, AZ. She was born in Worcester on October 13, 1941 to the late Edward J. and Anita Rita (Turcotte) Garland of Sun City Center, FL.
Gail was raised in Shrewsbury and married Paul M. Anderson there on September 8, 1962. Together they had three children whom they raised in Holden for 15 years and later in Kensington, CT. She had a 15-year career in real estate in Connecticut and in Arizona, she enjoyed working for 12 years in the garden department at Home Depot. Gail loved Cape Cod, antiquing, crafts, gardening and especially spending time with family and friends.
In addition to her mother and her beloved husband of 51 years, Gail leaves her three children, Cheryl Elliot and husband, Michael and their children, Meaghan and Molly of Westport, CT, Jeffrey Anderson his wife, Susan and their daughters, Chelsea and Madeleine of Nashville, TN, Kristen Anderson and her son, Kristofer of Groton, CT; her sisters, Jeanne Filosi of Atlanta, GA and Donna Castellanos of Worcester. She is predeceased by her loving in-laws, Melvin and Malvern Anderson.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Gail's family on Tuesday, May 20, from 4-7 pm in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 21, from the funeral home with a Mass to be celebrated at 10 am in St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Gail's memory to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
