Franklin S. Paddock

March 31, 1928 — June 8, 2017

RUTLAND – Franklin S. Paddock, forever young at heart, passed away peacefully at the age of 89, at his home in Rutland on Thursday, June 8, 2017 with his loving family by his side.
Franklin was a son of Selby and Madeline (Morrill) Paddock and was raised on their family farm in Rutland.  Soon after graduating from Rutland High School, he enlisted in the military and proudly served his country with the United States Marine Corps from 1946-1948. Five years after his return, he was introduced to the love of his life, Nancy A. Harmon and they were married four months later. Together Franklin and Nancy raised their three children on the family farm where he spent his youth. Franklin enjoyed a long career as Chief Industrial Engineer with Wyman Gordon Co., retiring after forty two years of service.  He was a former member of the Lion’s Club and has been a member of the First Congregational Church in North Brookfield for the past fifty years.  Franklin enjoyed gardening and could often be found tending to his Christmas trees, beautiful blueberry bushes and his orchard of more than one hundred apple trees.
He will be affectionately remembered and missed by his beloved wife of sixty-three years, Nancy A. Harmon; his daughter, Pamela L. Paddock of Rutland; his two sons, F. Peter Paddock and his wife, Dorothy of Hawaii and Michael R. Paddock and his wife, Pamela of Texas; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Franklin was predeceased by his two sisters, Phyllis Meagher and Beverly Gallant.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Franklin’s family from 5 to 7 pm on Monday, June 12 at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.  The funeral will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, June 13 at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery, Rutland.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rutland Food Pantry, P.O.
