WEST BOYLSTON – Franklin “Frank” A. Meanor, 96, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, August 30, 2013, after a short illness. He was born in Worcester, the son of Arthur and Parmelia E. (Boucher) Meanor and lived in West Boylston since 1955.
Frank leaves his wife of 71 years, Dorothy P. (Campbell) Meanor; a daughter, Lynne and her husband Robert Grettum, Jr. of Princeton; a nephew, Steven Campbell and his wife Jodi and their children of Minnesota; a nephew, Robert Campbell of Ontario, Canada; and a sister-in-law, Lillian Campbell of Minnesota.
He was a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army serving with Battery A 34th Field Artillery Battalion and was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Frank served proudly in the Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes and Belgium Campaigns during World War II. After the war, he worked for the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 4 in Worcester for many years before he retired. He loved taking care of his home, corresponding with his friends from Battery A, and spending time with his family.
The funeral for Frank will be held on Thursday, September 5, with a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 111 Worcester Street, West Boylston. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Church Street, West Boylston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Veteran’s Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605. Arrangements are under the care of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
