WEST BOYLSTON – Frank A. Brown, 78, died Monday, April 21, 2008 in UMass Memorial Health Care, Lake Avenue, Worcester.
His wife of 21 years, Rita M. (Hildreth) Brown died in 2004. He leaves a step-son, Donald W. Harding of Sterling; a step-daughter, Susan E. Eckert of Sterling; two grandchildren, Scott Belville of Sterling and Sheri Belville of Groton; and a great-grandson, Nicholas Belville of Sterling. He was born in Holyoke, the son of Frank A. and Mabel (Walsh) Brown, and lived many years in Worcester and 25 years in West Boylston.
Mr. Brown graduated from North High School in Worcester and the Brown University Graduate School of Banking in Providence. He worked at the former Worcester County Institute for Savings in Worcester for 35 years, retiring in 1988 as a senior vice president. He was a member and treasurer at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Worcester. He was a member and treasurer of the West Boylston Historical Society, a former trustee of the Beaman Memorial Library in West Boylston and a member of the Greendale Retired Men's Club.
The funeral service for Mr. Brown will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 24th, in the Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Road (Rte. 12), Sterling. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Church Street, West Boylston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the West Boylston Historical Society, c/o Town Clerk, 127 Hartwell Street, West Boylston, MA 01583.
