Francis 'Frank' X. Lambert

STERLING – Francis “Frank” X. Lambert, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at UMass Memorial Healthcare, University campus. He was born in 1921 in Worcester, the son of Frank and Melida (Barriere) Lambert.

Frank graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute earning a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a civil engineer and owned and operated Leominster Engineering Co. for many years. He proudly served his country as a First Lieutenant with the U.S. Army during WWII.

He enjoyed square dancing and antiquing. After his retirement, he volunteered with hospice programs, drove for the blind, volunteered in soup kitchens and was a consultant in the insurance industry.

Frank was member of Heritage Bible Chapel in Princeton and a former member of Christ Lutheran Church in West Boylston.

His beloved wife of 54 years, Gertrude A.C. (Lundquist) Lambert passed away in 1998. He leaves his sons, Alan Lambert and his wife, Sandy of Jefferson, Paul Lambert and his wife, Noni of Leominster, Roger Lambert and his wife, Deborah of Schaumburg, IL, Gary Lambert and his wife, Nina of Beverly; his daughters, Judith Lambert and her husband, Richard Messier of Bedford, NH and Susan Lambert and her husband, Karl Hoegle of Pittsburgh, PA; his 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Frederick Lambert.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, April 17, from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Miles-Sterling Funeral & Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Rd. (Rte. 12), Sterling. A funeral celebrating Frank’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 18 in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Sterling where he will be laid to rest beside his wife. Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, attn: Donna, 72 Cambridge St., Worcester, MA 01603.
