Biography
BARRE - Francis Leeper, 91, of Barre, passed away peacefully at Heywood Hospital in Gardner on Monday, October 5, 2015 after an illness. Born and raised in Clady, County Tyrone, N. Ireland, Frank was the son of Francis and Ann J. (Wilson) Leeper and lived over 30 years in Barre.

In 1950, Frank and his wife, Ivy Russell, journeyed form Northern Ireland to the United States and settled in Foxboro where they raised their two sons. Frank was a registered nurse and furthered his education with a Bachelor’s Degree from Bridgewater State University. He worked over 30 years for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health retiring as a hospital administrator at the age of 62.

Frank was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed hunting and fishing with both his son’s and grandson in Maine. He will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.

He leaves his beloved wife of 65 years, Ivy (Russell) Leeper; his two sons, Michael J. Leeper and his wife, Jacalyn of Gorham, Maine and Kevin R. Leeper and his wife, Beatriz of Medway; two grandchildren, Katy and Shaun; and a great granddaughter, Madelyn. Besides his parents, Frank is predeceased by his siblings.

Relatives and friends are invited to honor Frank’s life by attending a funeral service at 9:30 am on Thursday, October 8, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will follow at the Glen Valley Cemetery in Barre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elder Services of Worcester, 67 Millbrook Street, Suite 117, Worcester, MA 01606.
