Biography
RUTLAND – Frances E. (Hatstat) Locke, 84, died peacefully at Sterling Village on Tuesday, February 7, 2017. She was born in Hubbardston, a daughter of the late Raymond and Irene (Wunderlich) Hatstat. Frances was raised in Rutland and graduated from the former Rutland High School. She enjoyed crocheting, camping, fishing, puzzle making, and bird watching. But most important to Fran was the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of more than 60 years, Bob in 2012. Fran will be missed by her two sons; Robert A. Locke, Jr. of Worcester and Perry A. Locke of Brookfield; her four daughters, Cynthia M. Paquin of Plainfield, CT, Ruth M. Porter of Jackson, TN, Lena I. Bressette of Sturbridge and Rachel E. Mimms of Rutland; her brother, Lawrence Hatstat of Brookfield; her sister, Irene Lapoint of Rutland; her 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Fran was also predeceased by her grandson, her great granddaughter and her brother, Raymond Hatstat. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visiting hour on Tuesday, February 14, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, followed by a funeral service honoring her life at 1:30 at the funeral home. Burial in Rural Cemetery, Rutland will be in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rutland Fire Department, 240 Main Street, Rutland, MA 01543.
