Biography
LANCASTER - Forrest "Buzz" E. Hawes, Jr., 78, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016 at Sterling Village after an illness. He was born in Roxbury, the son of Forrest E. Sr., and Dorothy M. (LeDoux) Hawes and had lived in Lancaster since 1967.
He leaves his loving wife of 49 years, Pamela M. (Foss) Hawes; a niece, Cindy Hollifield of Lancaster; a nephew, Gary Hollifield of Lunenburg; and legions of good friends.
Buzz was a hard-working printer who started his own business, Acton Press, at the age of sixteen. He later owned Graphic Arts Consultants and founded Accucon Incorporated in Leominster in 1989. He was a member of J.A.N.E. (Jaguar Association of New England), CNEW (Central New England Woodturners), the Leominster Art Association, the Greater Boston Soaring Club, the Harley Owners Group and was a life member of the Eight Point Sportsman’s Club. Among his many achievements he was particularly proud to be a Commercial Pilot. He will be missed.
A celebration of life for Buzz will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice, or go buy yourself a new power tool. Arrangements are under the care of the Miles-Sterling Funeral and Tribute Center, 100 Worcester Road, Sterling.
