WEST BOYLSTON – Marjorie F. (Maylott) Hjelm, 89, of Pierce Street, died Friday, May 14, 2010 in Kindred Hospital Park View-Central Mass, Leicester after an illness.
Her husband of 44 years, David E. Hjelm, died in 1991. She leaves a daughter, Carla E. Hjelm of Mahwah, New Jersey; three sisters, Ruth Cartier of Worcester, Janet Pierce of Jonesport, Maine and Betty Hally of Shrewsbury; and many nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Phyllis Gigliotti and Barbara Chapin, predeceased her. Marjorie was born in Cherry Valley, the daughter of Arthur E. and Beatrice E. (Schofield) Maylott, and lived in Worcester before moving to West Boylston 50 years ago.
Mrs. Hjelm was the director of cafeterias in the West Boylston School System for 20 years before retiring in 1983. She also was an executive secretary for Worcester Press Steel Company. She was a volunteer at the West Boylston Council on Aging for several years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, May 17th, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. A funeral service for Marjorie will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 18th, in the funeral home with burial following in Old Swedish Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to West Boylston Council on Aging, 127 Hartwell Street, West Boylston, MA 01583.
