Florence (Lisabitsky) Katz

WORCESTER - Florence (Lisabitsky) Katz, age 96, died comfortably at the Jewish Healthcare Center in the early hours of December 1st.

She was born on January 9, 1922, in Worcester to Isaac and Sarah (Sperling) Lisabitsky. Florence married Lester Katz in 1949 and over their 63 years together they traveled the world always returning to the comfort of their home on Rydal Street where they loved to entertain. She was predeceased by her husband, Lester in 2012, and by her son, Steven Katz in 2005. The youngest child, she was predeceased by her brothers, Harry, Murray and Joe Lisbon and her beloved sister, Sylvia Seligman.

Florence had worked for many years as an executive secretary. She enjoyed taking adult education classes including yoga and assorted arts and crafts activities.

Her final years at the Eisenberg Assisted Living and most recently at the Jewish Healthcare Center were filled with love, activity and friendships.

In 2010, Florence became a Bat Mitzvah with three other Eisenberg residents. Through the process, she befriended Vita Hirsch and became her "best friend" until the end.

Florence is survived by her daughters, Judith (Paula Forman) and Nancy (Mark Liebowitz); daughter-in-law, Joey O'Connor-Katz and her much adored grandson, Jordan O'Connor-Katz. She also leaves 12 loving nieces and nephews.

Her family is most grateful to the entire Jewish Healthcare community as well as the private aides who cared for her over the years.

FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11:00 A.M. ON MONDAY, DECEMBER 3, IN CONGREGATION BETH ISRAEL, 15 JAMESBURY DRIVE, WORCESTER UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Burial will be in B'Nai Brith Cemetery.

Immediately following the interment, a Memorial Observance Reception will be held at the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester. The remainder of Memorial Observance will be announced at the time of the funeral service.
