Biography
WORCESTER – Florence (Sherwood) Cohen, 95, died on Sunday, August 14, 2016 in the Jewish Healthcare Center.
He husband, Abraham J. Cohen, died in 2004. She leaves a son, Dr. Dennis Cohen and his wife, Cynthia of Worcester; three granddaughters, Abby Drew Cohen and Stephanie Cohen, both of New York City, and Melissa Beth Loeb of Needham; and two great-grandchildren, Grayden and Mischa. She was predeceased by a son, Mark Ronald Cohen in 2003, and by her sisters, Harriet Jones and Eleanor Hartstone.
She was born in Chelsea, and was a daughter of Samuel and Dora (Bernstein) Sherwood, and had lived there for 77 years, 15 years in Peabody before moving to Worcester three years ago.
Everywhere she went, Florence was beloved by those around her. She sought fun and loved to go to parties for family and friends. She dragged her husband around the world from Tokyo to Seoul and the Middle East. After raising her family, she was a dedicated employee of the Leonard Silver Co. She was a devoted grandmother to her three grandchildren and a loving great-grandmother to her two great-grandchildren.
GRAVESIDE FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11 A.M. ON TUESDAY, AUGUST 16, AT THE TIFERETH ISRAEL CEMETERY ON FULLER STREET IN EVERETT UNDER DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN.
Memorial Observance will be held from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16, at the residence of Dennis and Cynthia Cohen, 33 Lynnwood Lane, Worcester.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jewish Healthcare Center, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
