Biography
WORCESTER - Florence C. (Christopulos) Patterson, 97, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Christ and Tassia (Demeter) Christopulos, Sr. of Buzzards Bay, MA.
Florence was a graduate of Bourne Public Schools and LaSalle College. She met her beloved late husband, Charles W. Patterson, while he was a student at Harvard University. They were married in Boston in 1941. After her husband returned from the Pacific Theatre in WWII, and having completed Harvard Law School, they resided at her husband’s home in Worcester.
Florence is survived by sons, C. William Patterson, II and his wife, Evelyn of Yardley, PA, Christopher D. Patterson of Salt Lake City, UT, and daughter, Deborah J. Patterson of Boston, MA. Surviving grandchildren are William F. Patterson, Laura S. Patterson, Nicholas Patterson and Rachel Patterson.
Florence was very active in community, political and charitable organizations. She was a long standing member of the Hellenic Women’s Club of Boston. She was a candidate in 1964 for the Massachusetts House of Representatives. Florence was the first woman to be a delegate for the state of Massachusetts at a Republican National convention, and was the Worcester County Chairwoman for the re-election of President Gerald Ford. She was a Director of Volunteers for the Heart Fund Drive, a Director of Volunteers for ALSAC, Fund for St. Jude’s Hospital for Children, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Institute for Neighborhood Government in Washington, D.C.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours to be held on Friday, April 1st from 10 to 11 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester. A funeral service will immediately follow at 11AM. A private burial will be held in Hope Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Philip G. Haddad, Jr. of Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden.
