HOLDEN – Florence “Bonnie” E. (Dransfield) Bellrose, 89, of Quinapoxet Street, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, August 6, 2006.
Her husband of 49 years, Ernest “Pete” J. Bellrose, died in 1989. She leaves two sons, Jeffrey M. Bellrose of Rutland and Richard Bellrose and his wife Laura of Pendroy, Montana; two daughters, Kathleen A. Johnson of Holden and Marilyn D. Bell and her husband Alan of Rutland; eight grandchildren, Susan, Tracy, Michael, Brian, Heather, Cindy, Melissa and Jacqueline; 11 great-grandchildren, Danielle, Christopher, Adam, Megan, Paige, Patrick, Felisha, Haley, Desiree, Jocelyn, and Braeden; nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Helen Fletcher and Lillian Stuart, and a brother, George Newell, predeceased her.
Mrs. Bellrose was born in Boston, daughter of Benjamin and Nellie (Matthews) Dransfield, and lived most of her life in Holden. She graduated from Holden High School in 1936 where she played basketball and field hockey. Bonnie was a devoted wife and mother for 66 years. Her greatest enjoyment in life was being with her family.
A graveside service for Mrs. Bellrose will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 9, at Grove Cemetery, 1290 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Massachusetts Chapter, 29 Crafts Street, Newton, MA 02160; or UMass Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is directing arrangements.
