WORCESTER – Florence Alice (Hartley) Brehm, 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Knollwood Nursing Center after an illness.Florence was born in London, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of the late Henry R. and Florence Annie (Smithers) Hartley. In 1946 she met and married William J. Brehm and in 1949 moved to the United States. Proud of her American citizenship, she had lived in New York before moving to Worcester in 1989. Florence later settled into the beautiful setting at the Briarwood Retirement Community in 2002 where she made wonderful friendships and memories. She was devoted to her family and attended Mass at St. Christopher’s Church in Worcester.Her loving husband of 46 years, William J. Brehm, passed away in 1992. She is survived by her three children, Veronica A. Shannon of Holden, William H. Brehm of NH and Elizabeth M. Suczynski of Maine; her sister, June Elizabeth Clarke of Canada; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three nieces and many great friends.Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Florence’s family on March 14, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. in St. Christopher’s Church, 950 West Boylston Street, Worcester. A private committal service will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Briarwood Retirement Community, Residence Assistance Fund, 65 Briarwood Circle, Worcester, MA 01606.
