HOLDEN – Bruce F. Carlson, 64, of Lowell Avenue, died Wednesday, December 20, 2006, in Autumn Village Nursing Center, Worcester, surrounded by his family.
He leaves his wife of 39 years, Barbara (Richardson) Carlson; two daughters, Carolyn E. Carpenter and her husband Jon of Westboro and Dianna C. Berube and her husband Jared of Tolland, Connecticut; a brother, Jonathan Carlson of Florida; a sister, Priscilla Miller of Washington; two grandchildren, Rachel and Alexander Carpenter; and several nieces and nephews. A sister, Judith Carlson, predeceased him. He was born in Hyannis, the son of John F. and Ruth I. (Hartwell) Carlson, and lived 36 years in Holden. Bruce served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era.
He graduated from Clark University where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He later earned an M.B.A. from Clark. He worked ten years for American Optical Company and eleven years at Sunnyside Motors, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Holden where he served as a deacon, trustee and chairperson of the Stewardship Campaign. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and a former member of the American Production and Inventory Control Society.
A memorial service for Mr. Carlson will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 24, in the First Congregational Church, 1180 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private.
