RUTLAND – Ruth E. (Walker) Davis, 83, of 310 Main Street, died Monday, May 7, 2007 in Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester.
Her husband of 55 years, Howard E. Davis, died in April of 2004. She leaves two sons, Gary A. Davis of Rockaway, NJ and Glenn H. Davis of Ashburnham; a daughter, Kathie R. Moskovitz of Norwalk, CT; a brother, James Walker of Oxford; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces; and her close friends, the Massey family of Rutland. Two brothers, Paul and John, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Paul H. and Eleanor C. (Smith) Walker, raised and lived in Oxford before moving to Rutland in 1963.
Mrs. Davis was a graduate of the Boston Children’s Hospital School of Nursing and was a member of the Cadet Nursing Corps at Fort Devens during World War II. She was a Registered Nurse for 20 years at Holden District Hospital, retiring as an Emergency Room Supervisor in 1989. Along with her husband, she ran Spruce Hill Farm in Rutland where she raised Morgan horses and Herford cows. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Rutland and enjoyed fishing and gardening.
The funeral service for Mrs. Davis will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 11, in the First Congregational Church of Rutland, 264 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery, 142 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Rutland. Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden.
