Biography
SHREWSBURY – Everett “Chick” M. Joseph, age 84, passed away on Sunday, February 19th at UMass Memorial Healthcare. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Phyllis “Sugar” (Seay) Joseph and his 3 cherished children and 5 grandchildren: son; David A. Joseph and his wife, Janine of Shrewsbury; two daughters; Amy and her husband, W. Scott Gerrish, Jr. of Brimfield and Heidi and her husband, Allan MacDonald Jr. of Boylston; 2 granddaughters; Alexis Joseph and her partner, Ben Bertram of Hampton, NH and Rachele Joseph and her husband, Rares Petritoi of Middleton;3 grandsons, Joseph and Maria-Chace Gerrish of Hampden, Ryan MacDonald and his partner, Megan Anderson of Barre and Matthew MacDonald of Boylston and his girlfriend Erin Fitzgerald of Worcester; and one great grandson, Hendry Michael Gerrish. Chick also leaves his loving sisters and brothers-in-law; Arlene Joseph of Fairfield, CT, Adele and "Sonny" Seay of Longmeadow, Lorraine and Noah Gordon of Dedham and Patricia Roy of Worcester; and many loved nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Alfred Joseph, brother-in-law Peter Roy and mother and father-in law; Osborn and "Nina" Seay. He served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He was born and raised in Worcester, loving son of Bernard and Anna (Marcus) Joseph and lived in Shrewsbury for 58 years. He started as an electrical engineer for Raytheon and retired 37 years later in 1992 as a program manager. He worked on the Polaris, Poseidon, Trident, Mercury, Viking and Apollo Programs. He was a longtime Shrewsbury Town Meeting member and a member of the Jewish War Veterans. In retirement, he was a volunteer at UMass Memorial Hospital, taught adult education, intro computer to seniors and enjoyed playing bridge. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law and friend. He was always there for us, inspired us all to work hard, explore life and to cherish the love of family and friends. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11:00AM ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 22ND IN TEMPLE EMANUEL SINAI, 661 SALISBURY STREET, WORCESTER UNDER THE DIRECTION OF RICHARD PERLMAN OF MILES FUNERAL HOME OF HOLDEN. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Shrewsbury. Sympathy gathering will be held after the burial at the residence of David and Janine Joseph.
