PAXTON – Evelyn W. Lawler, 87, of Pleasant Street, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 10, 2009 in Rose Monahan Hospice Home, Worcester.
She leaves her niece, Marilyn Richards of Leominster; six nephews, John Richards and his wife Carol of Holden, Glenn Richards and his wife Pastor Judy Hanlon of Holden, Jeffrey Richards of Paxton, Gary Richards and his wife Pamela of Paxton, David Lawler and his wife Roberta of Minneapolis, MN and Arthur Lawler and his wife Mary Ellen of Amesbury; many grand nieces, nephews, cousins and great grand nieces, nephews and cousins. Her brothers, Arthur and John Lawler, her sister, M. Elizabeth Richards and her niece Deb Luistro predeceased her. Evelyn was born in Worcester the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth J. (Wylie) Lawler and lived most of her life in Paxton. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1940.
Evelyn worked for Smith Valve Co. in Westboro for 12 ½ years and Bliss Rockwood Sprinkler Co. in Worcester for 25 years. She was a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star Cradle Rock Chapter in Barre. She attended and was the Chairwomen of the Evening Circle of the First Congregational Church in Paxton. She was a member of the Finance Committee, Citizen's Caucus, Republican Committee and the Women's Club all in Paxton. She was a member of the Worcester County Historical and Horticultural Association, the Tower Hill Botanic Gardens in Boylston and a member of the Friends of the Mechanics Hall where she volunteered.
Evelyn's funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, October 16th in the First Congregational Church in Paxton. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery, Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund, First Congregational Church in Paxton, 1 Church Street, Paxton, MA 01612.
