Evelyn (Jarger) Weiss

October 1, 1919 — October 2, 2017

Biography

WORCESTER - Evelyn (Jarger) Weiss, a native of Worcester, died one day after her 98th birthday in Surprise, AZ, where she lived with her family for over 11 years. She was the daughter of Mary and Abraham Jarger.
Her husband of 58 years, Henry David Weiss, her best friend and business partner, died in 1999.
She leaves her wonderful family, her son, Stephen J. Weiss and his wife Elizabeth  of Goodyear, AZ; her granddaughter, Holly E Weiss; her wonderful nephews, Melvyn Zarr and his wife, Gail of Falmouth, ME and Gerald Zarr and his wife, Christine of Bethesda, MD and her nephews’ children, Jocelyn Rock, Zara Rock and Anthony Zarr, who all meant the absolute world to her.  She was predeceased by her sister, Lillian Silverman.
Evelyn and her husband, Henry, owned and operated Henry’s Hobby House for 40 years. She was a member of Temple Emanuel Sinai of Worcester and Worcester Chapter of Hadassah. She loved to work in the garden and she loved dogs.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 9th in B'nai Brith Cemetery on St. John's Road in Worcester under the direction of Richard Perlman of Miles Funeral Home of Holden.
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Abraham and Mary Jarger Bookshelf at Temple Emanuel Sinai, 661 Salisbury St, Worcester, MA 01609.
She will forever be missed and remembered as a remarkable, astonishing and strong woman.
