HOLDEN – Evelyn R. (Savory) Sigalis, 101, of 18 Quinapoxet St., Jefferson, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, November 17, 2007 in Holden Nursing Home after an illness.
Her husband, Charles K. Sigalis died in 1988. She leaves a daughter, Beverly A. Armstrong and her husband Ronald of Jefferson; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Her first husband, Henry J. Blake, died in 1974. A son, James H. Blake and a daughter, Barbara J. Russo predeceased her. She was born and raised in Pittsfield the daughter of Alphonse and Delia (Goodrich) Savory and lived 45 years in Jefferson.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She was a graduate of Rockingham School of Nursing in Bellows Falls, VT, and continued her training in Boston before returning to Bellows Falls as a Registered Nurse.
A funeral Mass for Mrs. Sigalis will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21st, in St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will be in the Cemetery of the Evergreens, Lebanon Springs, New York. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Residents Activities Fund, Holden Nursing Home, 32 Mayo Dr., Holden, MA 01520. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden is directing arrangements.
