HOLDEN – Evelyn A. Riggles, 73, of South Wachusett Street, died on Saturday, September 17, 2011 in Saint Vincent Hospital, after an illness.
Evelyn was a lifelong resident of Holden, born on May 7, 1938 to John and Hildur (Richardson) Riggles. She was a graduate of Holden High School and worked as a baker at the Holden Big Y for 15 years, retiring in 2008. Evelyn was a former member of Salem Covenant Church in Worcester. She enjoyed her dog, Gizmo, and crocheting, knitting and using her talents to make hats.
She leaves her son with whom she lived, Edward S. Riggles and his best friend and companion Karen McIntire; a nephew, Jeffrey Riggles and his wife Linda of Rutland; an aunt and several cousins. She is predeceased by her brother, Stanley Riggles.
A calling hour for friends and family will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street (Rte. 122A), Holden. Burial will be private in the Riggles’ family lot at All Faith’s Cemetery, Worcester. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Town of Holden Fire Department, Ambulance Fund, 1370 Main Street, Holden, MA 01520.
