Evelyn J. Ramsey

August 15, 1975 — December 19, 2024

Evelyn J. "EJ" Ramsey, 49, of Leominster, formerly of Sterling, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024 after a short battle with breast cancer.

EJ was born in Leominster, the daughter of the late John and Carolyn (Kamierczak) Ramsey. She graduated from Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School and went on to work as a preschool aide for autistic children for many years to come.

A free spirit and self-proclaimed "tom-boy", she had an unyielding love for softball, family camping, and the outdoors, spending her days mountain biking, snowmobiling, and embracing nature in all its forms. After her work with preschool children, she worked for Cove Septic Systems and Excavating of Sterling, and later in her life began work as a landscaper where she could continue spending time outside. She took great pride in her work, bringing beauty to every garden and lawn. Her creativity also flourished through her passion for arts and crafts, where she regularly expressed herself through nature drawings, various styles of doodling, and many types of hands-on craft projects. Above all, her pride and joy were her two children. An animal-loving family, together they would often visit the Sterling Animal Shelter and always participated in the Sterling Town Fair. EJ greatly enjoyed listening and dancing to music and embraced Bible readings. She was a sharing and giving person to her friends even if it meant going without for herself. EJ will be lovingly remembered for expressing her affection in her own unique and bold way of using humor and a touch of special self-expression to show love to those closest to her.

EJ leaves behind her two children, Bridget and Johnny Phinney of Sterling; her sister Jacquelyn Giroux of Sterling; sister-in-law Kristal Dubovick of Leominster; nephews, Clayton Furmanick and Nicholas Giroux; father of her children, Robert Phinney; dear to her heart, Aunt Debbie; lifelong friend Posie, and true friend Lincoln Stiles. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John and Joseph Furmanick; and sister Debra Ramsey.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 5th from 5-7pm at Miles-Sterling Funeral Home, 100 Worcester Rd., Sterling. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, January 6th at 11:00am in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 4 Bridge St., Sterling. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will be private.
