HOLDEN – Evelyn C. (Polson) Anderson, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, February 24, 2014 after a brief stay at the Lutheran Home in Worcester. She was born and raised in Worcester, the daughter of David and Clara (Carlson) Polson. She graduated from Commerce High School. Evelyn lived most of her life in Worcester before moving to Holden in 2000.
Her husband , Albert S. Anderson, passed away in 1972. She leaves two daughters, Christine L. Anderson and Gayle Anderson-Zereski, both of Worcester; three grandchildren, Linda J. Anderson and her fiancé, Ralph Dube, Jr., Keith A. Zereski and his companion, Julie Swiderska and Lee A. Zereski and his wife, Katy; four great-grandchildren, Kourey McCabe, Kennedy Anderson, Andrea and Hannah Zereski; several nephews and nieces; and her lifelong best friend, Gloria Kauppila of Holden. She was predeceased by her sister, Dagny Forsberg and her husband, David; her brother, Warren Polson and his wife, Lorraine; and her son-in-law, Joseph A. Zereski.
Evelyn was a strong woman with a kind and gentle heart. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Her faith was a very important part of her life that inspired a special bond with her pastors and many friends at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Evelyn worked at Paul Revere Life Insurance Company for 27 years. She was a lifelong and devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a former member of the Eunice Circle, the Alpha Club of Paul Revere Retirees, a lifelong member of VASA, and honorary member of the Finnish American Club and was a member of the Victory Bowling League for 50 plus years.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27, in the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. Funeral services for Evelyn will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 28, in Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street, Worcester, MA 01609. Burial will follow at All Faiths Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Good Samaritan Fund.
