WORCESTER/HOLDEN – Evelyn Krieger, 88, formerly of Holden, died with her loving daughters by her side, on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at UMass Memorial Healthcare-University Campus, Worcester. She was born in Worcester on November 18, 1923, the daughter of Walter C.R. and Norma E. (Kjellberg) Krieger and lived most of her life in Worcester and Holden.
Evelyn is survived by her two daughters, Carol A. and her husband John R. Asplund and Linda J. Robert, all of Holden; and three grandsons, Erick S. Asplund and his wife Ramona of Phoenix, AZ, Kurt W. Asplund and his wife Anne of East Lyme, CT, and Dana R. Asplund of Holden.
She graduated from North High School in Worcester and went on to work as a claims research clerk at Paul Revere Insurance Company for over 25 years. She loved antiques, especially antique cars, had a talent for creweling, and in her later years had shown creativity as a painter. She and her daughters shared a love for animals, especially cats.
Evelyn loved all people and was especially devoted to her family. She readily made friends everywhere she went. Her family was deeply devoted to her and she will be missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a calling hour from 4 to 5 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02210.
