Evelyn M. (Ferrandino) Palmer

April 3, 1933 — February 15, 2018

BOYLSTON – Evelyn M. (Ferrandino) Palmer, of Cutler Road, died peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 15, after a short battle with lung cancer. She is survived by her husband of 65 years Bruce A. Palmer, as well as the following: her son, Bruce D. Palmer of Worcester; her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren Carol, Brian, Olivia and Cameron Rossetti of Brookfield; and her daughter, Sandra (Palmer) Bass of Pelahatchie, MS, widow of the late Sam Bass. She leaves many nieces and nephews.   Born April 3, 1933, she was the last surviving child of Anthony and Mary C. (Napoli) Ferrandino of West Boylston, and is pre-deceased by her sister Janet (Ferrandino) Hammond of West Boylston and brother Robert Ferrandino of Rutland.   In early motherhood, she helped support her family as a real estate agent. After earning associate’s and bachelor’s degrees from then-Worcester State College, she received her MBA from Nichols College. This led to a career in the mortgage departments at local banks, including Northeast Savings and Hudson National. She and her husband Bruce were also very active in the Boylston Lassie League.   Apart from family and professional responsibilities, she loved painting, nature, gardening and cross-country skiing. She was active in the Shrewsbury Art Association, Massachusetts Audubon and Appalachian Mountain Club. She enjoyed painting landscapes in Maine, particularly Dyer Long Pond in Jefferson, and Sandy River Beach in Jonesport. Over time, she accumulated an impressive beach glass collection. As recently as November, she participated in palates classes at Worcester Fitness.Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Evelyn’s family from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden followed by a remembrance honoring her life at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boylston Public Library Foundation, Inc. 695 Main St., Boylston, MA 01505, in memory of Evelyn Palmer.
